Speed Rendering - Clip Studio Pro 5 - Surface Pro 3

This is a really quick really rough test of the virtual pastels in Clip Studio Pro 5. 30 minutes. No textured background. I may try this test again in ArtRage 4. I believe ArtRage handles pastels a bit better than Clip Studio Pro although producing this piece wasn't bad. Quite the contrary, it was very easy and very relaxing. But ArtRage simply handles virtual mediums better than almost anything else I've ever used and the textured canvas options in ArtRage are top tier.

Black Phoenix Logo - Clip Studio Pro 5 - Inkscape on a SurfaceBook

This is a freelance project for a logo design. I sketched out the idea given to me in Clip Studio Pro 5 and then made a vector version of it in Inkscape. Technically, I could have completed this entirely in Clip Studio but the application can't output graphics in vector formats. Why did I not use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for this project? Because leasing software is ridiculous. A practice that needs to die. As with most projects like this, the concept I was given is not the approach I would have followed for the logo but you have to create what's asked for.

Live Case Design Samples - ArtFlow for Android/Sketchbook Ink - Nexus 7 and Nexus 9

After ordering my original Live Case posted here a few days ago, I went back to the Google online store and designed a few more using various images I've created over the last couple of years. As stated in the title, ArtFlow and Sketchbook Ink were used to create the images on a Nexus 7 2013 version and a Nexus 9. I'll order these over time and use some of my later pieces to see how they reproduce on a Nexus 6p case.

Grrr Monster 042016 - Clip Studio Pro 5 - SurfaceBook

04/30/2016 Update for the Grrr monster for my sister's story. She said she wanted something creepy, so I'm going for creepy but in a way that still looks like it could have been human. I also wanted to try some different things in the details.

Custom Google Live Case design for Nexus 6p. Created using ArtFlow for Android

Google recently launched a service that allows users to create their own custom cases for the Nexus 6, Nexus 5x and Nexus 6p. Google Live Cases I gave it a shot using one of my earlier designs from the ArtFlow Nexus 7/Nexus 9 days. The link allows you to select the image you want from your device. Arrange the positioning and zoom on a virtual phone. Add filters and select colors and then preview the final design in a 3D simulated version of what your final will look like on the case. My final design arrived last night and it's quality through and through. My image reproduced really well. I tried to position the image so the camera lens and fingerprint scanner fell in places that worked. The scanner is over a magic endowed defensive gem in the character's cape and the camera lens is over a attack gem in his headgear. Each design comes with a custom live wallpaper too.

Test run WIP - Clip Studio Pro (Formerly Manga Studio) - Surface Book

I finally bought a copy of Clip Studio Pro as it was on sale. I've been trying it out for the last couple of days and really like it. This is a rough sketch that I cleaned up. The line quality to the pencil tool is better than Sketchbook Pro 7 and ArtRage 4 which says a lot as those applications have great line quality to their pencil tools. The tools for Clip Studio are extensive and the menus are easy to follow. I'll be working in Clip Studio for the next few days to really get a feel for the application. Initial impressions are very good though.

Floating WIP - FlipBook/Sketchbook Pro 7 with ArtRage 4.5 - Surface Pro 3

Another animation test using Flipbook in Sketchbook Pro 7. The preliminary background was created using ArtRage 4.5. This will ultimately be a test of how well Flipbook can manage multiple characters moving throughout the screen. But this character will be the main focus. The animation I have planned is a extensive so this will be updated in stages.

Borderlands 2 - Testing out Game DVR and the Steam controller. Edits and Output in Power Director 14 Ultra on a Surface Book

I'm currently working on a project for an office that needs a series of demonstration videos produced. I needed a good screen recorder in order to produce segments of the videos. I tried three, GameDVR by Microsoft, Screen Recorder by Cyberlink that comes packaged with Power Director 14 Ultra and Open Broadcast Software/Studio. I used Borderlands 2 and Steam/Steam Controller as a test pig to see if I could get favorable results on my SurfaceBook. The logic being, if I can get gameplay videos captured with good quality then the videos for the project would be no problem because they will be no where near as resource intensive as gameplay videos. I found comfort in this logic because screen recording with Android is not only easy as hell to setup and do, even with audio, high frame rates and in HD. It's also free. Well...this isn't Android, it's Windows and that sums it all up in a nutshell.

Sketches Sketches Sketches - ArtRage 4.5/Sketchbook Pro 7/Clip Studio Pro - Surface Pro 3/SurfaceBook

Part of a series of really quick sketches created using ArtRage 4.5 (Surface Pro 3). This and the next two images are a part of the same series. Each sketch was created in 2 minutes or less. Very fast, very loose to just get an idea out before the mind tried to filter it and change it into something tainted by public expectation.

Monster Hunters Forever - Android Wear Watchface created in WatchMaker for Android

This was created using ArtFlow (Android), Photoshop Touch (Android) and WatchMaker (Android) for use with Android Wear devices. I revisited this design and made some minor changes recently when a member of G+ contacted me asking if I could share the link with him as he lost the original download since switching devices. I jumped into the archives and shared the link with him through G+. I also applied the slightly updated design to my own LG Urbane. I've been using a Samsung Gear S2 for the last few weeks and like Tizen (the Samsung developed OS that powers the S2) so much that I won't be using Android Wear for the foreseeable future. But I do miss this watchface. I've been a Monster Hunter player and fan since 2006 on PSP. I've played the series each year for 10 years.

Experimental Animation test - ArtRage/FlipBook on a Surface Pro 3

This is a test to simulate paint on glass animation. I learned the technique in college and although I initially wasn't a fan of it, it does have some great applications. Using one of the illustrations I recently finished, I tried the technique in Sketchbook Pro 7/Flipbook. I have to modify the process used in creating this as it's not very intuitive at the moment. But the potential is definitely there. I'll try it again in a few days or so but I think the Surface Book will be a better choice of hardware going forward. I'm going to need 16GBs of RAM as opposed to the 8 GBs in the Surface Pro 3 to complete the idea I have in mind for this technique.

"No CandyNJuice for You!" FlipBook in Sketchbook Pro 7 - Surface Pro 3

This is a second test of FlipBook in Sketchbook Pro 7. My ex from college wouldn't always let me have candy and juice when we were together because I had a habit of over indulging. I used those times as a basis for this particular test. I'll see how far I can take it as time goes on but I wanted to share what I was able to put together over the last three days.
